NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR BE SELECTED FOR THE
SCHOLARSHIP. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE
YOUR CHANCES OF BEING SELECTED FOR A SCHOLARSHIP. VOID WHERE
PROHIBITED BY LAW.
1. Eligibility: The Project Quipu Scholarship (the “PQ Scholarship”) is open only to
individuals who are current members of the American Indian Science and Engineering
Society (“AISES”) as of the date of entry. Employees of AISES and its subsidiaries and
affiliate companies, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and
children) and household members of each such employee, are not eligible. Void where
prohibited by law.
Applying for the PQ Scholarship constitutes applicant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules, which are final and binding in all matters related to the PQ Scholarship. Being selected for the PQ Scholarship is contingent upon entrant fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.
2. Application Period: Applicants may apply for the PQ Scholarship from 12:01:00 am EDT on March 15, 2024 until 11:59:59 pm EDT on April 30, 2024 (the "Application Period").
3. How to Enter: During the Application Period, applicants must fully complete and submit the PQ Scholarship application, including providing any required documentation, as necessary. Maximum of one (1) application per person. Project Quipu will determine in its sole discretion which Entries have satisfied all eligibility requirements.
4. Prizes: One (1) scholarship to enroll in the Game Innovation class at University of
Nevada Las Vegas, inclusive of the application fee for a non-degree seeking student and
the cost of tuition to attend the class in the 2024/2025 school year (the “Scholarship”). No
other costs or expenses shall be included, and such shall therefore be the responsibility of the selected applicant. The approximate value of the Scholarship is USD$3,000. No
substitution of the Scholarship shall be made except at Project Quipu’s sole discretion.
The Scholarship is non-transferable. Project Quipu reserves the right to substitute the
Scholarship for one of equal or greater value if the Scholarship becomes unavailable for
any reason. The selected applicant shall be responsible for any taxes and fees arising
from being awarded the Scholarship and/or its use.
5. Winner Selection: Following the close of the Application Period, Project Quipu will
review all eligible applications to determine which individual to award the Scholarship
to. The selected applicant will be notified by email at the email address provided during
the application process. Project Quipu’s decisions as to the administration and operation
of the PQ Scholarship, including the review and selection processes, are final and binding in all matters related to the PQ Scholarship. The selected applicant will be notified no later than required to sign and return to Project Quipu, on or before 11:59:59 pm EDT on June 10, 2024, the provided award letter (collectively the “Scholarship Forms”) in order to claim the PQ Scholarship. If a selected applicant cannot be contacted, or fails to sign and return the Scholarship Forms within the required time period, the applicant forfeits the Prize. For the avoidance of doubt, the Scholarship Forms will also identify the steps necessary to utilize the Scholarship, including their required application to University of Nevada Las Vegas as a non-degree seeking student. If for any reason such admission is declined, the selected applicant will forfeit the Scholarship and an alternative applicant shall be selected.
The selected applicant must continue to comply with all terms and conditions of these
Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements. In the event
that the selected applicant is disqualified for any reason, Project Quipu will award the
Scholarship to an alternate applicant. Only two (2) alternate applicants, at most, will be
selected after which the Scholarship will remain unawarded.
6. Odds of Selection: The odds of an applicant being awarded the Scholarship will depend on the number of eligible entries received, pursuant to the eligibility requirements stated herein.
7. General Conditions: Project Quipu reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the PQ Scholarship, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Project Quipu’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the application or selection process, as determined by Project Quipu in its sole discretion.
Project Quipu reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the application process or the operation of the Scholarship selection or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an otherwise disruptive manner.
Project Quipu’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
8. Disputes: By submitting an application, applicants agree that (1) any and all disputes,
claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the PQ Scholarship or its
application process shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class
action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the State of New Jersey; (2)
any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs
incurred, including but not limited to costs associated with applying for the PQ
Scholarship but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (3) to the extent allowed by applicable
law, under no circumstances will entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrant
hereby waives all rights to claim, punitive, incidental and/or consequential damages
and/or any other damages, other than out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to
have damages multiplied or otherwise increased.
9. Governing Law: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity,
interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules or the rights and obligations of
any participant or Project Quipu in connection with the PQ Scholarship or its application
process shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the internal laws of the
State of New Jersey without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or
provisions that would cause the application of any other State's laws.
10. Severability: The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules
shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any
provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official
Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their
terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein.
11. Discrepancies: In the event there is a discrepancy or inconsistency between disclosures or other statements contained in any PQ Scholarship-related materials, notifications, or announcements and the terms and conditions of these Official Rules, these Official Rules shall prevail, govern and control.
